Penny and Polly
…Reared to suffer and to dare. – “Penthesilea” by Laurence Binyon
We took our names from the two Amazonian queens of Greek mythology because, well, we’ve always wanted to be tall.
Hippolyta (Polly) and Penthesilea (Penny) are sisters (in spirit) and kick-ass warrior queens. Their story involves, among other things:
- a golden girdle,
- some rumors of fratricide involving hunting, accidentally shooting Hippolyta instead of the deer, etc., and
- Penthesilea’s eventual death at the hands of Achilles on the battlefields of Troy (after, of course, she and her Amazons wreaked some pretty serious havoc).
All very glamorous, we’re sure. If you discount the infrequency with which they all reportedly bathed.
