Politico reports this morning that some GOP freshmen were caught taking a dip in the Sea of Galilee during a fact finding mission to Israel last summer.
Budget debates, debt-ceiling stand offs, etc. must have been getting a little too hot to handle back home because Rep. Kevin Yoder (R – Kan.) left his clothes on the beach and jumped right in.
He has issued an apology “[for] any embarrassment I have caused for my colleagues and constituents”.
Sadly, stick-in-the-mud Republican lieutenant Eric Cantor did not let his hair down or frolic naked in the waves. But he did reprimand the offending members of Congress for “distracting from the mission of the trip”.
Questionable timing aside, one wonders if more Congressmen wouldn’t benefit from the occasional spontaneous dip in international waters. I hear it’s educative.
